Get involved

God is reflected in and cares for his creation.  His whole creation worships Him.

Jesus is the source of creation (made by and for Him), the sustainer and the saviour for all creation, us included.

Our relationships with God and each other are not separate from our relationship with creation.  In the Bible, we are called to be gardeners, caretakers, stewards, good tenants and good neighbours.

We will be introducing a number of items that you can get involved in but please feel free to bring any ideas and ways to help our congregation be gardeners, caretakers, stewards and good tenants.

Time is now declaration

We are being encouraged by our partners at A Rocha to sign the “Time is Now” declaration. On the 5th September, 2021, Glasgow Cathedral will host a national Climate Sunday service, where a coalition of Climate organisations, including A Rocha, will hand the government all the signatories to this and other declarations. Click here to sign the declaration.

About:

We know that when we join together, we make a big impact. We made history during lockdown with the first ever virtual lobby of Parliament, building on the success of the biggest ever mass lobby for climate, nature and people in June 2019. Now we are coming together to tell politicians that #TheTimeIsNow to put a cleaner, greener, fairer future at the heart of plans to rebuild a strong economy.

Walking, fellowship and appreciating gods beauty

Many of us, during the pandemic have felt more connected to nature, seeking out green spaces and enjoying the outdoors. A group of us at the church want to take this a bit further and organise some country walks. A time to fellowship, pray and just enjoy the beauty that surrounds us.

Some will be local and accessible and others may be a bit further afield. Who knows, we may yet plan a multi day walk and not long be doing the Camino de Santiago!

Keep a listen out for dates at church and join us for walking fellowship.

Our own Vegetable garden

As part of our mission to create sustainable and healthy food sources we are looking to create a vegetable garden in the church grounds. This can be enjoyed by all of our church family.

As part of our Eco-church commitment we will continue to re-wild a portion of the garden and encourage wildlife.

Please do get in touch with the team and let us know if you would like to get involved.

Community Litter Pick ups

We would love to organise short and fun liter pickups around our beautiful area. Our green spaces are so important and have been enjoyed immensely over the lockdown, but we would like to ensure they remain clean from litter. This not only helps it look beautiful, but also helps protect our wildlife.

Plastics are an ever increasing issue for our planet and we would encourage you to recycle all plastics that are collected. A suggestion of sorting the paper, glass, tin and plastics you pick up, just like at home, would be great.

We would look to spend a little time before and/or after church on a Sunday to do our litter picks.
